Cogsworth SMS Privacy Policy

How the Cogsworth family reminder line handles your information. Last updated 2026-07-10.

Cogsworth is a private family calendar and reminder service operated by Kyle Ondy for personal, household use. This policy explains what information the Cogsworth SMS reminder line collects and how it is used.

What this service does

A family member sends a text message to the Cogsworth number. The message is turned into a reminder shown on a shared family display, and the service texts back a short confirmation. Participation is limited to a small set of known family phone numbers.

How you opt in

Cogsworth is a private service for one household. There is no online sign-up form. You opt in by text: text the keyword JOIN to the service number, and you immediately get a one-line reply confirming you are opted in. From then on you text a short reminder to the number and Cogsworth replies once to confirm it saved the reminder. You only ever receive a message in reply to one you sent. Message frequency is low (about one reply per text you send). Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out at any time, or HELP for help.

Information collected

When you text the Cogsworth number, the service receives and stores:

No location data, contacts, or other information is collected.

How the information is used

Your phone number and message content are used only to create and display the reminders you send, and to send you a confirmation reply. The information is stored on a private server used solely to run this household service.

Sharing

Your phone number and messages are never sold, rented, or shared with any third party for marketing purposes. No mobile information is shared with third parties or affiliates for their own promotional use. Information may be disclosed only where required by law.

Message frequency and opt-out

Message frequency depends on how often you text the service. The service replies only to messages you send. Message and data rates may apply.

You can opt out at any time by replying STOP, at which point the service will stop sending you messages. Reply HELP for assistance.
